Tebuireng.on line- The Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School officially released thousands of students to return to their hometowns for the Idul Fitri 1447 H holiday. The release event entitled “Homecoming with Santri” was centered at the Gus Dur Tomb Area Terminal (KMGD), Jombang, Wednesday (11/03/2026).
The activity, which started at 07.30 WIB, was attended directly by the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School teacher, KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz (Gus Kikin), the homecoming staff, as well as the asatidz. An emotional and solemn atmosphere enveloped the departure of the students who were ready to celebrate Victory Day with their families.
The activity committee, Ustadz Daru, reported that the number of participants going home together this year reached 3,300 students. To ensure smooth running, the Islamic boarding school provides transportation facilities which are divided into two main routes.
“This year there are 3,300 students participating. We have prepared 71 buses for land routes covering the islands of Java, Bali and Sumatra. Apart from that, 328 students will depart by air via the airport,” explained Ustadz Daru.
All departure groups, both land and air, receive special assistance from the boarding school administrators. This is done to ensure the safety, order and comfort of the students during their journey to the pick-up point.
Chairman III of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, H. Lukman Hakim, BA, in his speech warned the students not to be lulled by the euphoria of the holidays. He emphasized that the identity as a student remains attached even though they are outside the boarding school environment.
“Maintain the good name of the Islamic boarding school by maintaining your morals wherever you are. Don’t be lulled by the various pleasures at home,” stressed H. Lukman Hakim.
In line with this, Gus Kikin in his caretaker address reminded the students that holidays are a momentum to show the quality of Tebuireng education among their families and neighbors.
“When you return home, be a santri who is useful for society. Put all your knowledge into practice and show that you are a Tebuireng santri,” said Gus Kikin.
The series of events closed with a joint prayer led by KH Fahmi Amrullah Hadzik (Gus Fahmi). He asked Allah SWT for safety and protection so that all students would be given a smooth journey until they arrived at their respective hometowns without missing a single one.
This homecoming together program is not just a transportation facility, but is part of the Islamic boarding school’s services to ensure that students return home in an organized, safe manner and within the corridors of Islamic boarding school values.
